Chipo is our Care Hero for March

Chipo Dawka is excelling in her role as a Home First Support Worker, since joining us from Africa in October last year on a visa sponsorship.

We were initially approached by Chipo’s sister, who lives in Norfolk and who was helping Chipo to find work in the UK and was impressed by Cavell’s work in the community. She put us in touch with Chipo, who was looking for a suitable company which would give her the support and training to bring her already impressive skills to our clients here in Norfolk and Suffolk.

As a Home First Support Worker, Chipo’s role is to support people who have come out of hospital, allowing them to be cared for at home, whilst also freeing up hospital beds for those who need them. She and her colleagues on the Home First Support team can be caring for someone for a period of just a few days or up to several weeks when they are no longer in need of our support.

Chipo absolutely loves her job and seeing her clients happy every day. In fact, we have received compliments by the dozen since Chipo started with us – she has the most infectious smile and really does brighten up the room as soon as she walks in. This enthusiasm and dedication earnt her the Care Hero of the Month Award for March 2023!

She says that she is so thankful for being given an opportunity to make a difference. Thank you, Chipo, for everything you have done and continue to do.
